Hong Kong International Airport Nov-2009 pax traffic stable

Hong Kong International Airport reports (20-Dec-2009) the following traffic highlights in Nov-2009:

  • Passenger numbers: 3.8 million, -0.4% year-on-year;
  • Cargo volume: 344,000 tonnes, +16.4%;
  • Aircraft movements: 23,515, -5.2%. [more]

Hong Kong International Airport: "While the 16.4% growth in cargo tonnage is certainly encouraging compared to the 1.3% year-on-year increase seen in Oct-2009, the smaller decreases in passenger traffic and aircraft movements also indicate progress…Stronger demand for air travel and better market sentiment are driving airlines to reinstate their previously suspended capacity and routes…We have also seen new airlines launching new services and routes to Hong Kong, such as Air Pacific in early Dec-2009 following the signing of the Air Services Agreement between the Hong Kong and Fiji," Stanley Hui Hon-chung, CEO.
