German airports pax up 3%, cargo down 2% in Jun-2014; handles 96.1 million pax in 1H2014

German Airports Association (ADV) reported (28-July-2014) the following traffic highlights for German airports:

• Jun-2014:
• • Passenger numbers: 19.6 million, +2.8% year-on-year;
  • • Germany: 4.0 million, -3.2%;
    • Europe: 12.3 million, +4.9%;
    • Non-Europe: 3.3 million, +3.0%;
  • Cargo volume: 363,334 tonnes, -1.7%;
  • Aircraft movements: 181,427, -0.9%;
• 1H2014:
• • Passenger numbers: 96.1 million, +2.1%;
  • • Germany: 22.0 million, +0.1%;
    • Europe: 56.5 million, +3.0%;
    • Non-Europe: 17.4 million, +1.9;
  • Cargo volume: 2.2 million tonnes, +2.2%;

ADV CEO Ralph Beisel warned (28-Jul-2014) that despite the positive trend developing, German airports are feeling the high volatility in the aviation market commenting "Different demand trends, inhibitory effects of political conditions in Germany, airline consolidation and the tough competition in the international market prevent the interaction of a more positive traffic development."
