German airport pax down 4%, cargo down 2% in Dec-2012; 200 million pax in 2012

German Airport Association (Der Flughafenverband ADV) reported (05-Feb-2013) the following traffic highlights at German airports:

• Dec-2012:
  • Passenger numbers: 13.3 million, -4.3% year-on-year;
  • Cargo volume: 353,814 tonnes, -2.4%;
  • Aircraft movements: 151,822, -7.9%;
• 2012:
  • Passenger numbers: 200.4 million, +1.1%;
  • Cargo volume: 4.3 million tonnes, -2.2%;
  • Aircraft movements: 2.3 million, -3.1%.

As previously reported, the ADV forecasts growth of 0.4% in passenger numbers at its 22 international airports in 2013, the worst level since the economic downturn in 2009. ADV also forecasts aircraft movements in Germany to decline by 6.2%. For cargo, growth of 1.0% is expected in 2013.
