Flughafen Wien AG commits to carbon neutrality

Flughafen Wien AG announced (14-Jul-2016) a photovoltaic sustainable energy solution has been in operation at Vienna International Airport since Jul-2016. Under the company's wider sustainability strategy, 2000 solar modules have been installed on hangar and equipment roofs with the capacity to deliver 500,000 kWh of electricity p/a. Flughafen Wien AG CFO Gunther Ofner said the technology is a "further important step" in achieving carbon neutrality and plans are being developed to add more modules in the future, especially on Vienna Airport's air cargo centre.
