Farnborough: Qatar Airways orders two B777s, accelerates B787 deliveries

Qatar Airways announced (21-Jul-2010) an order with Boeing for two additional B777-200LRs. Deliveries will start in 4Q2011 and valued at USD501 million. The order was previously accounted for on Boeing's Orders and Deliveries website, attributed to an unidentified customer. Qatar Airways has firm orders for 10 B777s and a further three on option. The carrier also announced a revised delivery schedule for its B787 Dreamliners, to help meet growing demand for additional aircraft. The carrier's first B787 is now scheduled to enter service during 4Q2011 and the airline expects to have five aircraft in service by the end of 4Q2012. These B787s will introduce "new and significant" cabin product enhancements to the Qatar Airways fleet. The airline is also negotiating further delivery accelerations of its 30 firm B787 purchases with Boeing, in order to replace ageing A330s. [more - Qatar Airways] [more - Boeing]
