Etihad says EU ETS could cost it USD720m by 2020

Etihad Airways estimated its inclusion in the European Union Emissions Trading Scheme from the beginning of 2012 could cost it up to USD719 million between 2012 and 2020 (Arabian Business, 01-Aug-2011). The estimation is based on an potential carbon prices as high as EUR60 per tonne as well as Etihad's growth into Europe over the decade and the ability of the airline industry to reduce emissions.
