Ethiopian Airlines CEO sees 'incremental revenue' from Star Alliance membership

Ethiopian Airlines CEO Tewolde GebreMariam, speaking at the CAPA World Aviation Summit 2015, said (07-Oct-2015) he sees "incremental revenue" coming from the carrier's membership in Star Alliance. The carrier has met its revenue objectives from the alliance since joining at the end of 2014 and has positive net revenue, along with benefits to its network, frequent flyer programme and codeshare relationships. Alliance membership has also improved global brand recognition. On the cost side, airport sharing services/co-location of terminals has given us "some advantages" said Mr GebreMariam, but the carrier has not gained as much as expected on the cost side from areas such as joint purchasing.
