Embraer moving to critical design review for first E-Jets E2 aircraft

Embraer provided (31-Jul-2014) the following update on the E-Jets E2 development programme:

  • Concluded the joint definition phase of the E190-E2 jet at the end of May-2014, by conducting the preliminary design review;
  • Completing wind tunnel tests for the E190-E2, the first model of the E-Jets E2 family, planned to enter service in 2018;
  • Next step in the development of the E190-E2 is the critical design review, when the product's maturity will be validated, enabling prototype production to begin. The E195-E2, derived from the E190-E2, and which is scheduled to begin revenue service in 2019, entered its joint definition phase;
  • Concluded the concept studies of the E175-E2, which is expected to enter service in 2020, commencing the preliminary studies as well as the aerodynamic wind tunnel tests. [more - original PR]
