easyJet to increase A320 capacity to 186 seats from May-2016

easyJet announced (12-May-2015) all deliveries of A320 aircraft from May-2016 will be configured with 186 seats, with the carrier's existing 180-seat A320 fleet to be retrofitted from "winter 2016". easyJet stated: "easyJet has taken the decision to increase the number of seats on its A320 aircraft from 180 to 186. All new A320 aircraft delivered from May 2016 will be fitted with 186 seats and easyJet's existing fleet of 180 seat A320 aircraft will be retrofitted starting in winter 2016. The retrofit is expected to be completed by summer of 2018. Increasing the number of seats from 180 to 186 on an A320 aircraft is expected to deliver a cost per seat saving of around 2%." According to the CAPA Fleet Database, easyJet currently operates a fleet of 87 A320 aircraft, with 56 A320ceos and 100 A320neos on order. [more - original PR]
