Delta becomes first A320 family operator to take delivery of new larger pivoting overhead bins

Airbus reported (06-Apr-2016) Delta Air Lines recently became the first customer to take delivery of an A320 family aircraft with the new 'pivoting' overhead stowage compartments. Their new A321 allows 60% more roll-on carry-on bags to be stored compared to the traditional 'fixed' bin option. More passengers will find space for their belongings closer to their seat. The airline is also the first to fly 'Space-Flex v2' - an optimised rear cabin configuration that integrates two lavatories and four trolleys outside the revenue area. Combined with 'Smart-Lav' also installed in these new aircraft, the resulting arrangement allows Delta to place 192 seats in the two-class cabin layout. [more - original PR]
