Continental forecasts CASM of USD 12.05 cents in 3Q2010

Continental Airlines stated (22-Sep-2010) it expects to end the Sep-2010 quarter with between USD4.1 billion and USD4.2 billion in unrestricted cash, cash equivalent and short-term investment. The carrier expects cargo, mail and other revenue to reach USD390 million. Continental also provided the following guidance:

  • 3Q2010 forecast:
    • Capacity (ASMs): +0.6% year-on-year;
    • Load factor: 85% to 86%;
      • Mainline: 86% to 87%;
    • Cost per ASM: USD 12.00 cents to USD 12.05 cents;
      • Mainline: USD 11.19 cents to USD 11.24 cents;
    • Cost per ASM excl fuel and special items: USD 8.60 cents to USD 8.65 cents;
      • Mainline: USD 8.02 cents to USD 8.07 cents;
  • FY2010 forecast:
    • Capacity (ASMs): +0.8%;
    • Load factor: 83% to 84%;
      • Mainline: 83% to 84%;
    • Cost per ASM: USD 12.17 cents to USD 12.22 cents;
      • Mainline: USD 11.33 cents to USD 11.38 cents;
    • Cost per ASM excl fuel and special items: USD 8.76 cents to USD 8.81 cents;
