Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh undertaking study for new international airport

Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) announced plans to undertake a feasibility study for a new international airport near Dhaka, between the Gazipur and Mymensingh districts (The Daily Star, 05-Nov-2009). Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry Secretary-In-Charge, Shafique Alam Mehdi, confirmed Zia International Airport (ZIA) "will not be abandoned". ZIA handles approximately 80% of Bangladesh's air traffic.
