Chinese carriers reports USD219m loss in Mar-2014

CAAC reported Chinese carriers recorded a loss of CNY1400 million (USD218.8 million) in Mar-2014 mainly due to foreign exchange losses. According to Yicai, revenue fell 1.4% to CNY31,300 million (USD4891 million) and operating costs increased 0.5% to CNY28,800 million (USD4500 million). During the month, passengers transported increased 5.1% to 30.2 million and cargo volume increased 6.2% to 517,000 tonnes. Passenger load factor fell 2.7 ppts to 81.0%.
