China's aviation profit down 53% in Feb-2011

CAAC announced China's aviation industry reported a 53% year-on-year decline in profit in Feb-2011 (Yicai/AvBuyer, 18-Mar-2011). Details include:

  • Profit: CNY1740 million (USD263.6 million), -53% year-on-year;
    • Airlines: CNY1210 million (USD183.3 million), -56.1%;
    • Airport: CNY190 million (USD28.8 million), -73.8%;
  • Passenger numbers: 21.6 million, +6.8%;
  • Cargo volume: 300,700 tonnes, -11.8%;
  • Domestic: -13.2%;
  • International: -9%;
  • Passenger load factor: 81.1%, +1.8 ppt;
  • Total fleet: 1615 aircraft, which includes the addition of one A330-300, one A330-200, six A320s, one B757F, four B737-800s and the exit of one B757-200, one MD90 and two MD11Fs.
