China Southern Airlines to increase Guangzhou-Dubai frequency; launch Jeddah service

China Southern Airlines announced plans to increase Guangzhou-Dubai frequency in Jan-2010, due to rising traffic - see Route Changes Table for more information (AFP, 14-Dec-2009). The carrier also announced plans to launch Guangzhou-Jeddah service in 1Q2010, as part of an increased Saudi Arabia focus. The carrier added that it has no plans to enter any new codeshare agreements.

China Southern Airlines: "The recession has hit the global aviation industry, yet China continues to defy the downturn. Proof of this is the air traffic on CSA between Dubai and Guangzhou, which has gone up 10% from 2008. This has prompted us to launch another flight. A daily flight is also something we will consider in the near future…. While many in the airline industry considered 2008 as a golden year, for us, 2009 has turned into a diamond year. October 2009 broke all records for us," Najeeb Akhtar, Assistant Sales and Marketing Manager. Source: AFP, 14-Dec-2009.
