China Southern Airlines: A380 losses 'tolerable'

China Southern Airlines chairman Si Xianmin said losses from the carrier's A380 operations are small and is "entirely within tolerable range for China Southern". As reported by Xinkuaibao, Mr Si said A380 loss can not be viewed entirely from a business point of view, must also take into account the intangible assets the A380 bring to the carrier. He said that "without the A380, there will be no China Southern's current position in the international arena." Meanwhile, Mr Si also said premium passengers originating from Guangzhou is not at the same level as Beijing and Shanghai, stating "we hope to be able to fly the A380 from Beijing, if we can not, we can still operate well from Guangzhou." Load factor on China Southern's five A380 operations are averaging around 80%, according to Mr Si.
