China Eastern Airlines expects turnaround in 1Q2015

China Eastern Airlines stated (16-Apr-2015) it expects to report net profit of between CNY1500 million (USD244.1 million) and CNY1600 million (USD260.4 million) in 1Q2015, compared with a net loss of CNY205 million (USD33.4 million) in 1Q2014. Commenting on the expected turnaround, the carrier said that "During the first quarter of 2015, benefiting from the factors such as low international crude oil prices and continual adjustments in China's economic structure, demand from aviation market was huge; the Company continuously improved its operating abilities," adding "as market organisation and support during the Spring Festival travel season were strong, both the flight capacity and the number of passengers carried during the Spring Festival travel season reached a historical new high."
