China airspace issues a problem for airlines, consumers and CAAC: Spring Airlines VP

Spring Airlines VP Jonathan Hutt, speaking at the CAPA Asia Aviation Summit, said (16-Nov-2016) airspace restrictions in China make route planning difficult and on time performance is now a major concern for the CAAC. Mr Hutt said, "Consumer dissatisfaction is rife" and Chinese airlines are under huge pressure to improve on time performance over fear of losing slots. Mr Hutt said improvements in airspace management are likely to be incremental and major change will be "top down," driven by the central Government and the necessity of ensuring the overall safety of the aviation sector.
