Cathay will not reopen talks on pay with flight attendants

Cathay Pacific stated it would not reopen talks on pay increases with the Cathay Pacific Airways Flights Attendants Union despite threats of industrial action over the Lunar New Year holiday in Feb-2011 (Wall Street Journal, 12-Jan-2011). Cathay CEO Tony Tyler said: "We have gone ahead and made those arrangements. So we're not going to discuss salaries any further. We are disappointed the union has yet again chosen a time just before a big holiday when a lot of Hong Kong people have booked their holidays."
