Cathay Pacific not interested in starting up a low-cost carrier now

Cathay Pacific executive chief Ivan Chu stated the airline has no immediate interest in starting up a low-cost carrier, as the level of air traffic at Hong Kong International Airport would not support quick enough turnarounds (The Australian, 06-Jun-2014). Mr Chu said: "We are maybe a victim of our success. Hong Kong airport is getting very full" noting, "For a low-cost carrier model to work, it takes a quick turnaround but that would not be supported by the infrastructure in Hong Kong, unfortunately. So not now. In 2023, when we have the third runway, then maybe we should think about it".
