Cathay Pacific has no intention of launching low-cost long-haul subsidiary

Cathay Pacific CEO John Slosar stated the carrier has no intention of launching a low-cost, long-haul subsidiary, stating he does not see Cathay Pacific moving in the same direction as Singapore Airlines which is launching such a LCC operation (The Australian/WA Today, 01-Jun-2011). ''I don't see Cathay going in that direction very much at the moment. One of the things that is always under-said about aviation is how much of your traffic is repeat traffic," he said. He noted that the carrier's key goal instead is to expand its network and passenger traffic "through the Cathay brand".
