Cargolux Airlines International halts delivery of first two B747-8Fs
Cargolux International Airlines announced (17-Sep-2011) its board rejected the first two B747-8Fs that were scheduled for delivery to Cargolux on 19-Sep-2011 and 21-Sep-2011 due to "unresolved contractual issues" between Boeing and Cargolux in respect to the aircraft. Financing through JP Morgan - as an Ex-Im Bank guaranteed lender - has been put on hold pending resolution of the contractual issues. In the event that the issues cannot be resolved in a "timely manner", Cargolux will source alternative capacity to fully meet customer demand and expectations ahead of the traditional high season. Boeing confirmed that it will not deliver the first two B747-8Fs to Cargolux this week and is working with the carrier to determine a date for delivery (Reuters, 17-Sep-2011). Boeing said it would continue to work with Cargolux regarding the delivery of the aircraft. According to Ascend fleet data, Cargolux operates a fleet of 15 B747-400Fs and one B747-200F.
