Canada eases restrictions on onboard items

Canda's Transport Department has reportedly eased restrictions on items that can be brought onboard services in an effort to improve security and speed passenger screening times (Reuters, 4-Feb-2011). Small scissors and tools that are under 6cm are now allowed, according to the Minister of State for Transport Rob Merrifield. Mr Merrifield stated the revised list will allow security staff to focus more on serious threats, such as explosives, and bring Canada's banned item list in line with those of other countries.
