Boeing unveils key elements of 777X cabin design

Boeing announced (15-Jul-2014) new details about the cabin and passenger experience being developed for the 777X. Boeing will build on the interior of the current 777 as well as applying 787 cabin innovations. The 777X interior will feature:

  • A cabin altitude of 6000 ft, comparable to the 787;
  • Windows that are more than 15% larger than the competition, offering increased ambient light;
  • All-new interior design that allows airlines to customise cabin architectures by class. This includes an adaptable suite of parts that facilitates choices in overhead ceiling and stow bin configurations;
  • Higher cabin humidity, comparable to the 787;
  • Enhanced air filtration;
  • Next-generation LED lighting;
  • Lower cabin noise, achieved through the new engine nacelle design, new high bypass ratio engines, better insulation and a passenger cabin that doubles the number of air nozzles with lower velocity and less noise.

The 777X programme has 300 orders and commitments from six customers worldwide. Production is set to begin in 2017, with first delivery targeted for 2020. [more - original PR]
