Boeing to wait until mid-2011 to announce future of B737

Boeing announced it intends to wait until mid-2011 before deciding whether to offer a new engine for the B737 or to move to develop an all-new replacement aircraft (Bloomberg, 13-Jan-2011). Boeing is uncertain whether there is sufficient demand to justify the investment necessary to rework the B737 to offer new engines.
