Boeing to increase B737 production

Boeing announced (16-Sep-2010) plans to increase production of the B737NG to 38 aircraft per month in 2Q2013. The decision comes after announcements earlier this year to increase production from 31.5 to 35 aircraft per month in early 2012. Key reasons for the increase include the company's backlog of more than 2,000 B737NGs, current options that customers are expected to exercise and ongoing sales campaigns. The rate increase is not expected to have a material impact on 2010 financial results. [more]

Boeing Commercial Airplanes: "Increasing production is in response to customer demand for this airplane. Airlines want this innovative airplane sooner to renew their fleets to serve their customers. We made this decision after careful evaluation by Boeing and our supplier partners," Jim Albaugh, President and CEO. Source: Boeing, 16-Sep-2010.
