Boeing projects USD760bn market for 7530 new aircraft in Nth America

Boeing has forecast (04-Oct-2011) carriers in North America will take delivery of 7530 new aircraft over the next 20 years at a market value of USD760 billion. Taking retirements into account, the North America fleet will grow from 6610 aircraft at present to approximately 9330 by 2030. Boeing expects single-aisle aircraft will grow to 73% of the total North America fleet by 2030 mainly related to traffic travelling to and from economically dynamic regions in Central and South America. Long-haul international traffic will continue to grow at an average annual rate of approximately 4.5%. This growth is expected to result in demand for an additional 1180 new fuel-efficient, twin-aisle aircraft.

Boeing: "The North American commercial aviation market improved for a second consecutive year with passenger traffic growth at a modest 3%... The region's airline industry is poised for long-term, moderate growth. Airlines are expected to continue focusing on capacity discipline and improving financial performance," VP of marketing, Randy Tinseth. [more - original PR]
