Austrian Airlines confirms autumn 2015 launch of new fare structure

Austrian Airlines confirmed (23-Jun-2015) plans to implement a new fare structure on its domestic and European services from autumn 2015, with three economy class fare categories and one for business class travellers. 'Light' fares will offer passengers the ability to travel with hand luggage only, with no ability to rebook or refund issued tickets. 'Classic' fares will offer travellers one complimentary item of checked luggage, seat selection and the ability to rebook tickets for a fee. 'Flex' fares will offer the ability to rebook tickets at no charge and obtain refunds for a fee. 'Flex' passengers will also be able to take earlier services on the day of their booked travel at no extra charge, regardless of booking category. Business class travellers will now be able to rebook or cancel services free of charge. Austrian Airlines CCO Andreas Otto said: "With the new fare model, we want to combine the theme of individualisation with quality, and address customers' individual needs more strongly. From the price-sensitive customer who is only travelling with hand luggage, through the customer who wants a standard fare with lots of extra services included, to the Business Class passenger who wants the full flexibility and highest level of comfort - there's something for everyone."
