Austrian Airlines attributes improvement in 1Q2016 financial performance to lower fuel prices

Austrian Airlines released (03-May-2016) its 1Q2016 financial results, highlighting reduced losses of EUR29 million compared to EUR53 million in 1Q2015. The carrier attributed the improvement to lower fuel prices and the conclusion of a long-term lease agreement for the Technical Base with Vienna International Airport. The carrier attributed the increase to a 3.7% rise in pax and the accompanying revenue increase arising from the addition of new long-haul routes and flight connections to German destinations.
