Australian Transport Safety Bureau and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority are currently looking into the similarities between a Jetstar A330-200 instrument blackout on 29-Oct-2009 and the Air France A330-200 crash over the Atlantic in Jun-2009, which suffered the same issue (Herald Sun, 04-Nov-2009). According to Jetstar, early indications have found the airspeed sensing system suffered a momentary interruption, and then returned to normal. The carrier is currently liaising with Airbus on the matter.

United Airlines Part 2: Sustaining balance sheet strength while declaring ambitious margin targets
One area where United Airlines has made important strides during the last few years is in overhauling its balance sheet. Its efforts have gained some recognition from credit agencies for its progress in paring down debt and improving leverage ratios; but similarly to its rival American Airlines – attaining an investment-grade credit rating is not a huge priority for United. United is hinting that other fleet changes could be under consideration, including deals similar to the agreement it forged during 2015 to lease used Airbus A319s.

CAPA Asia Aviation Summit Day 2: AirAsia X & Spring Airlines discuss opportunities in China
The second day of the CAPA Asia Aviation Summit began with a Q&A featuring AirAsia X CEO Benyamin Ismail and Spring Airlines VP Jonathan Hutt. The Chinese market dominated the conversation, particularly opportunities between China and Southeast Asia for both airlines.
The CAPA Asia Aviation Summit was held on 16-Nov-2016 and 17-Nov-2016, attracting over 300 delegates. The summit also included a gala dinner on 16-Nov-2016 featuring the CAPA Asia Pacific Aviation Awards for Excellence.
The remainder of Day 2 featured three panels: on distribution, ancillaries, and a wrap-up of the market outlook.
