Asia Pacific airports records 7% pax growth, Middle Eastern airports up 10% in 2013
ACI Asia Pacific reported (14-Feb-2014) Asia Pacific airports ended 2013 with a 7.2% year-on-year increase in passenger numbers while airports in the Middle East recorded a 10.1% increase. More than 30% of airports in the region recorded double-digit growth while Beijing Airport remained the region's busiest airport with 83 million passengers, up 2.2%. Air freight at Asia Pacific airports increased 0.9% and Middle Eastern airports recorded a 5.4% growth. The top five airport with the highest cargo throughput were Hong Kong with more than 4.1 million tonnes of freight, followed by Shanghai Pudong with 2.8 million tonnes, Dubai and Seoul Incheon, both handled around 2.4 million tonnes and Tokyo Narita with 1.9 million tonnes.
