American Airlines: Operational performance is starting to show improvements

American Airlines Group CFO Derek Kerr stated (06-Nov-2014) operational performance is starting to show improvements following a "difficult" summer in 2014, while integration with US Airways has gone smoothly so far. The carrier anticipates "record" earnings in 4Q2014 and FY2014. American's PRASM growth remains positive, despite higher ASM growth and pressure in Latin America, while 3Q2014 mainline CASM ex fuel and special items was only up 0.7% year-over-year despite the impact of higher labour expenses. The carrier plans to take delivery of a total of 84 mainline aircraft in 2014, 73 aircraft in 2015, and 60 aircraft in 2016. [more - original PR]
