American Airlines defends random seating process

American Airlines defended its newly implemented random seating process launched in May-2011, stating it reduces boarding times by 5% to 10% (Los Angeles Times, 27-Jun-2011). The Association of Professional Flight Attendants contends the process has created "complete chaos" among passengers, forcing attendants to spend more time preparing the aircraft for take-off.
