Airfreight growth momentum decelerated in Sep-2016, yields down 9%: IATA

IATA, via its 3Q2016 Cargo Chartbook, reported (26-Oct-2016) global FTKs increased 6.1% year-on-year in Sep-2016 and increased 2% for the first nine months of 2016. The air cargo market was weak in 1Q2016 but recovered and grew in 2Q2016 and 3Q2016. Monthly growth momentum decelerated in Sep-2016 largely due to weaker performance in domestic FTKs. In-service widebody freighter capacity for continued to grow for the sixth consecutive quarter in 3Q2016. Strong growth in passenger demand continues to exacerbate capacity issues.
