Airbus to lift A320 production to 40 per month by 2012

Airbus announced (30-Jul-2010) plans to increase the monthly production rate of its A320 family aircraft to 38 per month in Aug-2011 and to 40 per month in 1Q2012. The company produces 34 aircraft a month at the moment, and has already announced plans to increase A320 production to 26 aircraft per month from Dec-2010. The manufacturer will maintain A330/A340 production at 8.5 aircraft per month. The decision is driven by continuing strong demand for narrowbody aircraft and a record backlog in excess of more than 2,200 A320-family aircraft. [more]
