Airbus sees V shaped recovery, orders to pick up in 2H2011

Airbus Executive Vice President Programmes, Tom Williams, stated the manufacturer expects orders to pick up in 2H2011 and is seeing a V shaped economic recovery, rather than the W shape that had been feared (Reuters, 19-Feb-2010). 2010 will be a "low" year for orders, but the backlog of orders is expected to see the manufacturer through the year.

Airbus: "We see 2010 as a low year for orders, but our order backlog, which is around 3,500 planes, should help us through the year. We see order numbers picking up in H2 2011, but not to 2007 levels…It seems like it will be a V shaped recovery rather than a W shaped one, which was feared," Tom Williams, Executive Vice President Programmes.
