Airbus China sees need for larger aircraft in China market

Airbus China President Laurence Barron stated he sees the need for larger aircraft in the China market (China Daily, 23-Jun-2011). "For Asia, China in particular, size is going to be important. With flight time slots at major airports becoming scarce, you can't always increase the number of flights. The only way is bigger aircraft. We would see the same trends in China," he said. Continued congestion in hub airports is the major factor that drives up the size of aircraft, Mr Barron added. Airbus has increased its market share in China from 7% in 1995 to 45% as at Apr-2011.
