Airbus and Boeing look at narrowbody production increases

Airbus and Boeing are reportedly considering further increases in output of their narrowbody aircraft families (Reuters, 26-Nov-2010). Airbus has already announced plans to lift A320 family production to 40 per month from early 2012, while Boeing plans to increase B737NG output to 38 per month in 2Q2013. Airbus is considering raising production to 44 per month in 2014 or 2015, with Boeing increasing output to 42 per month.

Airbus: "We are at rate 34 [a month] now, rate 36 next month, rate 38 in August 2011 to reach rate 40 in early 2012. From this plateau we will study our options, market and resources permitting," Stefan Schaffrath, spokesman. Source; Reuters, 28-Nov-2010.
