airBaltic considering strategic play once consolidation is over in the Baltic states

airBaltic CEO Martin Gauss, speaking at CAPA's Airlines in Transition Conference on 25/26-Mar-2015, stated (25-Mar-2015) that as a smaller legacy carrier, one of the challenges the airline has is its geographic location and the small size of its available market. The Baltic states "sit at one of the ends of Europe". Air Baltic has focused on Latvia and Riga, but once the consolidation process is over in the Baltic states it will look at further avenues to expand. Competing with LCCs in the short-haul markets is not considered as a solution.
