Air India faces difficulty gaining loan from banks

Air India faces difficulty gaining a loan with Indian banks, who are unwilling to lend without sovereign guarantee (Economic Times, 23-Jun-2010). The carrier had floated a tender in May-2010 to raise USD1.2 billion to refinance loans used for the purchased of 21 aircraft.
