Air Canada appoints CEO for LCC; to launch in Jun-2013 with two 767s and two A319s

Air Canada announced (02-Oct-2012) the appointment of Michael Friisdahl as president and CEO of the carrier's new leisure group and LCC. Mr Friisdahl previously served as CEO at Thomas Cook North America. The travel group will combine the LCC with Air Canada's existing Air Canada Vacations brand. The LCC plans to launch in Jun-2013 with two Boeing 767-300ERs and two A319s. Air Canada CEO Calin Rovinescu said, "Our new leisure group will benefit from combining the low cost carrier with the strong brand reputation of Air Canada Vacations and leveraging the established marketing and distribution channels of both Air Canada Vacations and Air Canada.
