Aeroflot announces order for eight B777s

Aeroflot and Boeing announced (09-Mar-2011) an order for six B777-300ERs and two B777-200ERs. The order was previously attributed to an unidentified customer on Boeing's Orders and Deliveries website. The aircraft will support the carrier's international growth opportunities, according to Vitaly Saveliev, general director of Aeroflot. The aircraft will also enable the carrier to boost its fleet ahead of the Winter Olympics in 2014. First deliveries are expected in 2013. The aircraft are valued at around USD2.2 billion at list prices (Reuters, 09-Mar-2011). The order is reportedly part of Aeroflot's longer term plans to acquire 16 new B777s over the next six years. Aeroflot continues to have an outstanding order for 22 B787s. [more]
