ACI EUROPE: Airport financial improvement are driven by 'strong cost discipline' rather than revenue

ACI EUROPE DG Olivier Jankovec stated (21-Jun-2016) airport financial improvements continue to be "driven primarily by strong cost discipline, rather than revenue growth". Mr Jankovec added: "Operating costs per passenger have gone down by an impressive -6.7% since 2008, while revenues have increased by just +1.6%. This really tells you one thing - that competitive pressures are keeping airports on their toes". ACI EUROPE confirmed 51% of Europe's airports are loss making, though that percentage reaches 77% for airports with less than 1 million passengers p/a. [more - original PR]
