AAPA: Government has role in seeing infrastructure & regulation keep pace with growth

Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) director general Andrew Herdman reported (14-Jan-2016) the association expects demand for air travel in the Asia Pacific to continue expanding year-on-year. Mr Herdman commented that governments "have an important role to play in ensuring that the necessary aviation infrastructure, including effective regulatory oversight, keeps pace with the expected growth". AAPA has a safety objective to deliver further positive improvements in safety performance, "recognising that this can only be achieved through the joint efforts of the region's operators, working in close partnership with regulators and other involved stakeholders."
