Scoot to Acquire Twenty 787 Aircraft

Scoot, the long-haul low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, has agreed to acquire twenty Boeing 787 aircraft for delivery commencing in 2014. The twenty fuel-efficient aircraft will be used to replace Scoot's Boeing 777-200 fleet and facilitate the airline's ongoing expansion.

"Since commencing operations in June 2012, Scoot has quickly established itself as a low-cost airline with a difference, with our fares, our crew and our product being exceptionally well received by the travelling public," said Campbell Wilson, Scoot's CEO. "In addition to a great reputation, Scoot has quickly grown to a fleet of four aircraft and a network soon to encompass nine cities. Today's announcement that we'll be acquiring 20 Boeing 787's to power our growth is exciting news and great for our guests - not least because the aircraft's fuel efficiency will help keep ticket prices low."

Scoot's 787s will sport a brand new interior as well as the 787's enlarged windows and unique interior climatic system for a superior level of comfort.

The 20 aircraft were originally ordered by parent company Singapore Airlines. Selection of engines to power the fleet will be made at a later date.

Scoot's network now comprises six cities (Singapore, Sydney, Gold Coast, Bangkok, Taipei and Tianjin), with Tokyo commencing on 29 October, and Shenyang and Qingdao in November.
