02-Dec-2013 On December 1, the first flight with Norwegian lifted off from Stockholm Arlanda Airport to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. As a result, Stockholm once again has direct service to Florida after an absence of almost twenty years.

The departure with Norwegian Air Shuttle (Norwegian) to Fort Lauderdale was celebrated with a concert amongst the Terminal 5 check-in counters featuring La Gaylia Frazier, who took the opportunity to welcome passengers to her original hometown. Passengers were also treated to hors d'oeuvres and bubbly at the gate prior to departure, while Captain Martin Roithmayr on Norwegian's flight DY 7035 cut the ribbon.

"Over the past year, almost 400,00 passengers have flown to the US from Stockholm Arlanda, and just over 30,000 have flown to Florida. We see growing interest among Swedes to travel to the US and at the same time we see growing interest in Sweden among people in theUS. So it is gratifying that Norwegian is now continuing to develop its long-haul service, enabling people to fly non-stop from Stockholm to Florida," said Lena Rökaas, deputy airport director at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
