Exciting retail opportunities at Perth Airport's terminal 1

With the recent tender announcement that Built Environs was awarded the construction contract for this project, a range of opportunities now exist for retailers wanting to expand into a new market.

Over the past seven years, the number of passengers travelling through Perth Airport has doubled with 12.6 million passengers recorded in 2012, making Perth Airport the fastest growing capital city airport in Australia.

Expressions of Interest are now being sought for retailers, with trading expected to commence by mid-2014. The expansion will provide 1600sqm over 15 retail tenancies - 10 locations in the Domestic Pier and five in the International Terminal Departures area.

T1 Domestic Pier

The contemporary design of the new Domestic Pier and the incorporation of gates that will allow Perth Airport to service wide-bodied aircraft, such as Virgin Australia's A330 and the Airbus A380, are critical to the success of Perth Airport and its airline customers.

The retail offer in the Domestic Pier, which will become home to Virgin Australia, will include:

*a specialist café,
*three healthy/fast/hot food outlets,
*a bar and restaurant,
*a news/books/gift store, and
*three speciality airside outlets.

An arrivals specialist café will also be based on the ground floor.

T1 International Departures

The International Departures expansion will facilitate the introduction of regular services by international airlines using Code F wide-bodied aircraft, such as the A380.

The retail offer in the International Departures area will add to the customer experience, with a new licensed check-in café on the forecourt and up to two specialty retail kiosks comprising last minute travel and luggage essentials. Future retail planning is also underway for two additional retail food and beverage outlets in the departures lounge.
