12-Dec-2012 At 9:05 am, on December 12th, 2012, CA4440, flying from Gui Yang, landed on the runway smoothly. This flight showed that the passenger numbers of Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport (CDIA) of China broke through 30 million, making CDIA the fifth airport in mainland China and also the only one in central-western China that stepped into the "30 Million Airports Club." It has been only three years since the passenger numbers broke through 20 million in 2009, now CDIA has realized a new historical leap again.

Located in the southwestern part of China, Chengdu is the capital city of Sichuan Province. In 2010, Chengdu ranked first as the next decade's Fastest-Growing City by Forbes magazine. Now, 243 Fortune 500 companies have settled here. The 2013 Fortune Global Forum will be held in Chengdu. As the international comprehensive transportation hub in central-western China, the CDIA serves a population of nearly 500 million.

CDIA has developed very fast in recent years. In 2004, the passenger numbers broke through 10 million, reached 20 million in 2009, and welcomed 29 million in 2011, which ranked it fourth among cities in mainland China and is part of the world's Top 50.

As the fourth largest aviation city in mainland China, CDIA has 54 international (regional) routes covering 51 cities, and 141 domestic routes covering 95 cities. Now, CDIA aims to be the best airport operator in China.
