Air traffic in Berlin and Brandenburg rose yet again in April. A total of 7,588,365 passengers used the airports Schönefeld and Tegel during the first four months of the year, representing a year-on-year increase of 3.3 per cent.

5,613,965 passengers were recorded in Tegel between January and April; 7.9 per cent more than in the same period the previous year. At the same time, 1,974,400 passengers were handled in Schönefeld up until April; 8.0 per cent less than in the same period the previous year.

On the other hand, the total number of flight movements between January and April was down 0.9 per cent on the year at 72,782 take-offs and land-ings. The number of flight movements in Schönefeld dropped to 20,063 - 10.5 per cent less than in the previous year - while the number of flight movements in Tegel increased by 3.3 per cent compared to the previous year. A total of 52,719 flight movements were recorded in Tegel in the first four months of the year.

Schönefeld and Tegel Airport recorded 9,869 tonnes of air freight between January and April 2013; 0.6 per cent less than in the same period the previous year.

Traffic report for April

In April 2013, a total of 2,180,993 passengers used the airports Schönefeld and Tegel - 6.3 per cent more than in the same month the previous year. 1,622,555 passengers were recorded in Tegel in April 2013; 13.2 per cent more than in April 2012. 558,438 passengers were recorded at Schönefeld Airport last month; 9.8 per cent less than in the same period the previous year.

The total number of flight movements in April was up 4.6 per cent on the year at 20,160 take-offs and landings. At 2,540 tonnes, air freight in April rose by 4.0 per cent.
