16-Jul-2012 Airport International Group (AIG), the Jordanian consortium responsible for the rehabilitation, expansion, and operation of the Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA), has announced the selection of various preferred bidders to provide Food & Beverages services at the QAIA's new terminal.

The preferred bidders are: Al Shaya International Co. (Starbucks), Arab Food Catering Co. (Popeyes), Jordan American Food Company (Burger King), International Catering Services (Freeze Creamery), Kalha Restaurants, and Good Harvest Investment Company (Crumz Bakery Café). Moreover, additional preferred bidders for the Food & Beverages services will be announced soon.

The comprehensive process to select Food & Beverages partners began in June 2011, and was open to submissions from both local and international Food & Beverages providers.

By using a fair, transparent bid evaluation process based on clearly-defined criteria, AIG hopes to accomplish two key objectives; ensuring that visitors to the QAIA have the highest levels of satisfaction in the airport's services, while simultaneously providing the maximum possible financial returns for both the airport and the Kingdom's national treasury. The evaluation process- involving the Project Management Unit from the Ministry of Transport- guaranteed that bidders fulfilled each tender's strict technical and financial requirements.

"Our efforts aim at offering QAIA travelers and visitor the best variety and quality of services. With the selection of these bidders, visitors to the airport will have an excellent range of reputable local and international brands to choose from in terms of food and beverages," commented Kjeld Binger, CEO of AIG. "This is yet another key step to guarantee a positive experience for every individual coming through our new terminal."

AIG's investment of $750m to build the state-of-the-art terminal - in addition to $100m spent on rehabilitating the terminals currently in use - is intended to develop Jordan's primary gateway, the QAIA, as a regional niche hub. The terminal is in the advanced stages of construction with 85% completed to date.
